Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was listed as a full participant in practice on Tuesday.
However, after suffering a mild high-ankle sprain in Sunday's win in Cleveland, backup quarterback Carson Wentz is preparing to start the game.
Wentz told reporters on Tuesday that his mindset is no different this week than any other week.
"Patrick's had some nicks and bruises all year, and I prepared like I was going to play every week," Wentz said. "So on my end, nothing's really going to change."
The quarterback has started 93 games during his career, which began in 2016 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has a 47-45-1 record as a starting quarterback.
Wentz played a handful of snaps for the Chiefs to help close out the victory in Cleveland.
"I think just getting out there - unfortunately I had a couple of false starts, so working through that," Wentz said. "Just getting in that huddle with those guys, I think, was big for whatever comes our way. Whether it's this week or whenever, I'll be ready. I think it was beneficial to get out there. I'm glad we were able to still seal the deal and get the win and all that fun stuff."
He has thrown for 22,312 yards, 153 touchdowns, and 67 interceptions in his career.
His best season came in 2017 with the Philadelphia Eagles, when he passed for 3,296 yards and 33 touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl honors and second-team All-Pro recognition.
