There are many great small towns in our Pine Tree State, but this one, in particular, is being called the most 'charming.'
From the Piscataqua River Bridge to the northern tip of Madawaska, Maine is full of unique charm. However, not every part of Maine is created equally, with some places standing out a bit more. So, the real question is, which town holds the crown as the most charming of them all?
HGTV created a list highlighting the charm and unique qualities of small towns across America. To do this, they selected one standout small town from each state that embodies the essence of local character, community, and simplicity. Each town represents a 'best-kept secret,' offering visitors a glimpse into the unique culture and lifestyle of the area.
According to HGTV and their list, '50 of the Most Charming Small Towns in America,' Maine's chosen town is Kennebunkport. Here's what HGTV had to say about this picturesque town in York County:
Once a shipbuilding center, Kennebunkport, Maine, became a summer retreat by the late 1800s; affluent vacationers flocked to the grand hotels and mansions along its coastline. Visitors still come each summer to relax on the beaches and stroll around the town. Don't miss Dock Square, a popular shopping area in a village setting, and a drive along Ocean Avenue for spectacular coastal views.
