'Happened so fast.' Dolphins' Tyreek Hill recounts Sunday's run-in with police on CNN

Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill said Sunday's confrontation with Miami-Dade Police left him "shocked' and "embarrassed" during an episode of "The Source."

"I was shocked," Hill told CNN's Kaitlan Collins on Monday evening. "It was crazy because it all happened so fast. Like for me, it just all happened so fast and I really couldn't like gather everything that was happening."

"If I wasn't Tyreek Hill, worst case scenario, we would've had a different article: 'Tyreek Hill got shot in front of Hard Rock Stadium," the All-Pro receiver later added.

Hill appeared on the show alongside his attorney, Julius Collins. The interview comes just hours after Miami-Dade police released the body camera footage that showed officers dragging Hill out of the car and forcing him to the ground as the 30-year-old continues to shout that he just had knee surgery.

"What a coincidence," one officer said. Someone can also be heard seemingly mocking Hill with the phrase that he needs "surgery on your ears." An officer later drives his knee into Hill's back as the receiver laid face down on the pavement. Hill was charged with reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt, according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington.

While Monday's interview mainly allowed Hill to recount the events that happened Sunday morning, it also gave Collins the opportunity to share his displeasure with the Police Benevolent Association's statement. A few particular noteworthy items from the statement -- that Hill was "not immediately cooperative" and "refused to sit on the ground was therefore redirected to the ground" -- seemed to fall a part under scrutiny, according to Collins.

"As far as the statement goes from the police union, I think the video contradicts everything that they're saying," Collins said.

Hill, however, ended the interview on a relatively positive note, explaining that he intends to use "my platform and my resources" to make a change.

"We done tried it all," Hill said. "We done protest. We even took knee. We done did walks. So what's next? So right now, me and my wife are brainstorming how we can be apart of this change. It's important to us because we want to be able to change lives all across the world."

Hill's teammates and the Dolphins organization itself have expressed their support of him in the hours since the video released. Jalen Ramsey tweeted that the officers should be fired immediately.

"Mfs like them can't have no type of power," the All-Pro cornerback shared via X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

A short time later, Terron Armstead added to the discourse via X.

"Tyreek walked in the locker room just moments after this!" Armstead wrote. "His eyes were red filled with anger and pain! As he's telling me what happened, I couldn't do nothing but feel the pain of my brother!! Seeing this s*** makes it even worse man! Completely unnecessary, completely sad!"

The Dolphins urged Miami-Dade police "to take equally swift and strong action against the officers who engaged in such despicable behavior."

"We will stand beside Tyreek and our players as they work to use their platform and this situation to make a positive impact in our community," the statement read.
