Celtics signing guard Lonnie Walker IV to Exhibit 10 deal

The Boston Celtics are reportedly inking Lonnie Walker IV to a contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The veteran guard has a chance to join the reigning champions, but could end up with the team's G League affiliate the Maine Celtics.

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Walker is signing an Exhibit 10 contract. If Walker doesn't make Boston's roster, the team can waive him and give him a bonus if he decides to play in Maine. The Celtics have used their G League program to grow young players as well as to keep veteran's within the organization's orbit in recent years.

Walker was the No. 18 pick in 2018 and started his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs. He spent time in the G League before brief stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and most recently the Brooklyn Nets. A solid defender, Walker can also shoot well from distance. The 25-year-old also has 19 games of postseason experience, too.
