A Devon charity group is putting the kettle on to help mark 80 years of humanitarian work, as supporters gather for a coffee morning in aid of Christian Aid.
The event, hosted by the South Molton Christian Aid Group, will take place on Thursday, November 6, at the Assembly Rooms from 9.45am to noon. It's part of a nationwide initiative celebrating the 80th anniversary of Christian Aid, which was established in 1945 to support refugees in Europe following World War Two.
Attendees will be treated to a performance by pupils from The Community United CofE Primary School, alongside a range of stalls, a raffle, tombola, and a bring and buy section.
Organiser Lynne Miller said: "Entrance is £2, which includes a cup of tea or coffee, and everyone is welcome."
Reflecting on the charity's work, Lynne added: "We know eradicating poverty can seem like an impossible task. But over these 80 years, Christian Aid has harnessed the unstoppable power of hope which compels us to stand up for communities in crisis and support people living in poverty.
"Right now, we need it more than ever. As tragic events unfold across the world, from Gaza to Ukraine and South Sudan, we are supporting Christian Aid to offer hope to communities in crisis."
Christian Aid works with local partners to deliver practical aid during emergencies and long-term development support, while also campaigning against injustice and inequality. In 2024, it partnered with 260 organisations to support 4.5 million people worldwide, with projects ranging from farming co-operatives and savings schemes to healthcare access and disaster risk training.
