Samsung is finally making its way to the world of extended reality (XR) by giving us a glimpse of its much-awaited headset codenamed Project Moohan. After months of speculation, the company has teased and officially confirmed its event called 'World Wide Open', which is going to unveil the brand's first XR headsets.

The Project Moohan will mark Samsung's first major step into the immersive tech space, after Apple's Vision Pro. Some of the big names like Qualcomm and Google are partnering on this ambitious project, and Samsung is all set to mark its presence in the augmented reality segment.

Samsung is set to live stream its 'World Wide Open' event on 21 October at 10:00 PM ET (7:30 AM IST). Tech enthusiasts and fans are eagerly waiting to tune into Samsung's official website or YouTube channel to witness the launch of the Project Moohan headsets.

The event will cover official design, features, specifications, and perhaps the final name of the device. The Project Moohan XR is rumored to be called the Samsung Galaxy XR.

While the virtual event of Samsung's 'World Wide Open' will take place on 21 October, the company has not yet officially disclosed anything about the XR headsets. There are no details about the shipping timeline; nevertheless, buyers can hold on to the pre-reservations that are already open.

Samsung is offering a $100 credit for Samsung products for users who will register early and complete their Moohan purchase later. Keeping in mind the large scale of the event and partnership involved, it is expected that Samsung XR headsets will be available soon after the announcement.

Although Samsung has not revealed any features of the headsets, it is clear that the upcoming XR headset will be positioned to target professional and high-end users. It will not be competing with the affordable options like Meta Quest 3.

The upcoming XR headsets are built on the Android XR platform and jointly developed by Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm. The product is expected to pack two micro-OLED 4K displays. It might deliver 29 million pixels for an immersive visual experience. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2 chipset, designed specifically for extended reality devices.

The company has also hinted at AI integration, allowing users to have more personalized, interactive, and intuitive experiences. The experience will be extremely immersive, including gaming, entertainment, to virtual productivity & communication. It is expected to blend the digital as well as physical worlds seamlessly.
