Christmas tree in Buffalo Gap aglow with holiday decorations

BUFFALO GAP, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Family and friends celebrate lighting the city's Christmas Tree at the Old Setters' Ground in Buffalo Gap.

The Christmas in the Gap event was held tonight, December 7, and started at 5 p.m. The tree was lit by 7:00 p.m., and the snow machine gave the community some "snow."

Before the tree was lit, the community gathered for extra activities to celebrate the holiday spirit. Many at the event could take pictures with Santa, get on hayrides, walk through trees decorated with lights, enjoy live music, meet the Grinch, make their ornaments, and sock skate at the sock skating rink.

Buffalo Gap Chambers of Commerce Executive and Director Taylor Roberts and Treasurer Lota Zoth shared their thoughts on tonight's event.

"We're out here at Christmas in the Gap; every year, it gives a little bit bigger and bigger; despite the weather, it was a good turnout."

"We're really excited. The chamber loves to hold this event for Buffalo Gap and the Big Country community. We were blessed with rain this morning, but it cleared up, and despite the mud, we had a great turnout tonight." Zoth said

Food was also provided at the event as the community decorated cookies, ate green chili stews, purchased in food trucks, drank hot cocoa, roasted their smores, and participated in the cake walk to win sweets from local bakers.

Guests could also shop at the marketplace for vendors, meet and greet animals from the May Farm Petting Zoo, and have their kids see the fire truck & meet the firefighters from Buffalo Gap Volunteer Fire Department. A "Lil Red Truck" was also there for families to take holiday pictures with the festive truck filled with hay bales and Christmas decorations.
