How Can Jets Get In Good Cap Position After 2024 Season?

As things stand right now, the New York Jets are expected to enter the 2025 offseason with a little over $30 million in cap space.

With a new general manager, head coach, and quarterback all expected to be on the way in the coming months, there are plenty of positions in need of addressing in the coming months.

$30 million in space isn't exactly enough to get all of that work done, though.

Luckily for the new executives and faces of the franchise, there are plenty of ways to double New York's cap space in the coming months following the end of their season.

To start, the Jets can create $36 million in cap space if they make wide receiver Davante Adams a post-June 1st cut. They would only owe the former All-Pro $2 million in dead cap as well.

If New York were to choose to move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers - as many expect to happen - they would eat a dead cap charge of just over $14 million but save $9.5 million.

These numbers are calculated by Over The Cap.

That's over $45 million in salary cap space created simply by moving on from both Adams and Rodgers. That would give New York over $70 million in salary cap space - plenty of room to not only re-sign much of their young core but also improve the roster in key parts.
