Abby D'Arcangelo scores game winner for Holy Spirit: Tuesday's field hockey roundup

Abby D'Arcangelo scored off a penalty stroke with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to give the eighth-seeded Holy Spirit High School field hockey team a 2-1 victory over ninth-seeded Our Lady of Mercy Academy in a South Jersey Non-Public first-round game Tuesday.

The game was scoreless at halftime.

In the third quarter, Jorja Condurso scored off an assist from Madison Berry to give the Spartans (12-4) a 2-1 lead. With 3 minutes, 54 seconds left in the game, Molly Gallagher scored off an assist from Alexandra Sirakides for the Villagers (6-10-2) to tie it at 1-1.

Avery Savage made five saves for OLMA. Kennedy Ward made three saves for Holy Spirit.

South Jersey Group III first round

(8) Ocean City 6, (9) Toms River South 1: Ella Jefferson scored three goals for the Red Raiders (12-7-1).

Stevie Wright scored twice. Casey Adamson scored. Marley Dwyer added an assist. Taryn Dolka made four saves.

Emily Sigler scored for Toms River South (11-8-1).

Ocean City will play at top-seeded Hammonton in the quarterfinals Thursday.

(6) Lacey Twp. 3, (11) Brick Memorial 0: Emily Kudlacik scored two goals for the Lions (12-5-4).

Samantha Subokow also scored. Avery Smith assisted on a goal. Tabytha Wedderman made three saves.

Lacey will play at third-seeded Shawnee in the quarterfinals Thursday.

(5) Northern Burlington 4, (12) Mainland Reg. 2: Ella Morelli scored two goals and assisted on two others for Northern Burlington (13-4-2).

Elaina Dinofa and Molly McCully each scored for Mainland (10-6-3). Katherine Crozier-Carole assisted on a goal. Emma Tomlin made 14 saves.

South Jersey Group II first round

(7) Middle Twp. 4, (10) Ocean Twp. 0: Gwen Boal, Abbey Cappelletti, Layla Hagan and Julia Clarke each scored for the Panthers (13-5).

Allie Brady assisted on a goal. Frankie Taylor made two saves to earn the shutout.

Middle will play at second-seeded Haddonfield in the quarterfinals Thursday.

(3) Allentown 7, (14) Barnegat: Hailee Ladu scored two goals for Allentown (16-6).

Jadeyn Bodziak made 16 saves for Barnegat (8-9).
