Downtown Houston will transform into a Western heritage celebration ahead of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when the season kicks off with its annual Houston Rodeo Run and parade on March 1.
Held before the Downtown Rodeo Parade, the Rodeo Run presented by ConocoPhillips supports Houston Livestock Show scholarships. The event kicks off with a wheelchair race, followed by the 5K and 10K Corral A, 10K and 5K races.
The event starts 9 a.m. at the corner of Walker and Bagby and ends on Allen Parkway near Eleanor Tinsley Park, where there will be a post-race party.

After the Rodeo Run, thousands will fill downtown streets for the annual Downtown Rodeo Parade, a tradition since 1938. The parade features floats, marching bands, horseback riders and trail ride wagons.
The route begins at Bagby and Walker streets, then travels from Travis to Bell and from Bell to Louisiana before turning on Lamar and ending at Lamar and Bagby.
Road closures will be in effect on Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. Streets will reopen once the events conclude, around 2 p.m.
As the Army, Navy and Marines celebrates 250 years of service, the 2025 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Parade will recognize military contributions with three U.S. Armed Forces leaders serving as grand marshals. U.S. Navy Rear Admiral James P. Waters, U.S. Army Commanding General James E. Rainey and U.S. Marine Corps Brigadier General James A. Ryans II will lead the parade.
Waters, a Naval Academy graduate, has commanded multiple submarines and now leads Navy Recruiting Command. Rainey has served in Iraq and Afghanistan and was recognized as Senior General Officer at the 2024 Rodeo's Armed Forces Appreciation Day. Ryans, who enlisted in 1988, is the Commanding General of Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and Western Recruiting Region, overseeing recruitment efforts in the Western U.S.
