CHICAGO -- A man was shot by a 16-year-old Wednesday night while the man was assaulting a woman, police said.
Officers responded to a call of a battery in progress in the 3900 block of West Huron in East Garfield Park around 8:50 p.m. Police said a 45-year-old man was physically attacking a 40-year-old woman inside a residence.
Police said the altercation stopped when the teenage boy, who was also inside the home, fired a gun.
The 45-year-old man was shot in the lower back and taken to the hospital. He is in critical condition.
