Wisconsin football has assembled a solid 2025 recruiting class, but Luke Fickell and company are looking to build on it further.
UW's 2025 class currently ranks 28th in the country per the composite rankings with 23 commits after recent de-commitments from Brenden Anes and Wilnerson Telemaque. With those losses, Wisconsin has a hole to fill, and a source says UW set its sights on a current Michigan commit to fill it.
Jaylen Williams, a four-star defensive lineman, is expected to make a visit to Madison when the Badgers square off against No. 1 Oregon on Saturday night. The Palatine High School standout is currently ranked as the No. 298 player in the country and the No. 32 defensive lineman in the 2025 cycle, per the 247Sports Composite.
Williams has been committed to Michigan since June, choosing the Wolverines over Wisconsin, Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas, Purdue, Miami, and several others. He was initially recruited by former Badgers DL coach Greg Scruggs, picking up an offer from the Badgers early on in his recruitment in January of 2023. UW fell outside of Williams' top four schools at the end of his recruitment, but now they are looking to make a late push.
Since Williams committed to Michigan, the Wolverines have continued to stack commits at defensive line. With Wisconsin losing a pair of commitments just a few weeks ago and now having a need in the defensive trenches, it's easy to see why there is mutual interest.
We are in the home stretch of the 2025 cycle, and Wisconsin has its sights set on a couple of targets as National Signing Day is just weeks away. UW flipped tight end Emmett Bork from Michigan State at the end of October, making this situation with Williams worth monitoring as the Badgers look to put the finishing touches on the '25 class.
